Making corrugated metal roofing safe?

I knew when I put the roof on my chicken coop, "that sharp edge" at eye height would one day get me. Well I didn't safety proof it because I liked the way it looked and functioned, and didn't want to wrap a cut water hose over that stupid sharp corner. Well, it finally got me last night when I was spaying my garden. Back into it when I was turning my head I guess. Anyway it got my ear(thank God), and not my eye, and the cut I hope will heal up fine. It's closed real tight so I'm going to just let it heal. When I did it, I just thought to myself, how bad did I just slice myself, cause I hit it pretty good. It hurt my pride more than my ear I think. I just sliced my finger last Friday night in the kitchen and had to get 6 stiches, so I'm starting to get paranoid about me being accident prone. Have had my share of incidents, I'll tell you that.

Anyway, I'm not taking any more chances with that darn roof. It's eye level, and it's sharp. Please help me with some ideas to safety proof this. Just wanted to go out there last night and beat those corners down with a hammer, but I really would like it to look somewhat nice. Thanks for your time.

I would take a strong needle nose and roll the corners down so that you have a smooth edge on the corner.
Or jack the coop up and put it on some stands to get the corners above head height.

I work in the auto industry and the first thing that comes to mind is door edge guards. Standard color is black but they come in different colors. You could get a roll at an auto parts store. They are about 1/4 to 1/2 in and would slide over the edge. Much less of an eye sore (no pun intended :)) than an old hose.

Oh, this was painful to read. Really, I kept flinching.

I'm glad you're ok. The first thing that came to mind for me was using wooden end closure strips. You could screw down from the top into the wood. With the end closure flush with the edge of the metal you would have an edge at least 1/2" wide. You'll have to use a thinner piece of wood on the straight edge side. Running into it might poke you bad, but you probably wouldn't loose an eye.

Depending on the material of your roofing, screw in either aluminum or metal angle iron on the edge facing down

Thanks for the ideas. May try and get it fixed up this weekend. My squash vines have increased the perimeter of my garden, so when I walk around the edge, I get real close to that roof. Just getting distracted messing with the garden and working around that is just another accident waiting to happen. Got to get it fixed up quick.
