I have two pekin ducks that are 7 weeks old. One clearly has a "quack" so I'm assuming that she is female. The other one, I can't tell! The one in question has never had deep quack however, it doesn't necessarily sound like a male raspy voice either. Is it still too early to tell?

The one in the box definitely seems a female, however I think the other one is too early to tell. I had two female ducks, Cayugas. We definitely knew that they were girls, because they were sexed by the hatchery. Orrun developed that quacky sound much faster than Aye, who was smaller and lighter. Aye, even though they were born on the same day, kept peeping long after Orrun, but she did eventually quack. I think that yours might be the same...

Thank you! I was confused because they are both the same age but the one out of the box is much larger and has a darker beak......and is not "quacking" yet. I will keep waiting

We would be fine with either a male or female knowing that at least one is female.

Yeah, Aye and Orrun were the same age, but Orrun matured a lot faster, and quacked a lot sooner.

Either way, your ducks are both very cute!

my guess is one boy and one girl. the one out of the box sounds like my males did. last spring all my ducklings turned out to be males and they all sounded like yours. but im sure another couple weeks and it will be easier to tell for sure. super adorable thats for sure!

I keep waiting for some type of a quack but there's still nothing from the one in question. If anything, the voice is getting more raspy so I'm thinking there's a good chance that the one out of the box is a boy. It would make sense since he is quite a bit larger than the confirmed female and has a much more orange beak. Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it!
