Has anyone tried feeding malted grains? I found a couple threads on fermented feed and full green sprouts but those are quite different end results from malting, which is sprouting just enough to develop the enzymes that release more of the seeds' nutrients for use.(by the plant or whatever eats the malt.)
Basically it's just when the little white root pops out, brewery malters are very specific about the timing and then heat dry the malted grain (low heat, no more than about 120f to preserve the enzymes)
For chicken feed it seems one could play a bit more fast & loose and maybe feed some while fresh and dry the rest, any grain can be malted but barleys have the most enzymes.
