Mazuri Waterfowl Maintenance for Call Ducks?

I just bought a big bag of mazuri waterfowl and spent almost $50. I opened it up and the pellets seem HUGE! my ducks are used to a crumble. Do call ducks generally eat this big of a pellet just fine? (My call ducks are about 1.5 lbs each, so pretty small).

We use it for our silver Appleyards (large breed) and they love it. I think it should be fine. The pellets also float, so you can feed on the water. It's a great feed in our experience.

Hmmm. Yes I have no doubt it is a great feed! Just the size bothers me. My girl is only 1.3 pounds.. they chew on the pellets and then spit them out. It seems like it's really big for their size. (Even though my calls are full grown)! So odd!

Purina makes Mazuri Waterfowl feeds. They also make a basic duck feed which can be used at all stages of life. That's the one I use.

However, it doesn't contain oyster shell, so that may have to be supplemented.

You may find that the Mazuri Waterfowl maintenance feed will soften up enough in water for your calls. I soak the Mazuri Waterfowl starter in water for small ducklings.

That's a great idea! I put a bowl of water + the mazuri in the pen for the ducks and they ended up eating all of it. I do worry about choking though....... ugh. Calls are so small!

since this bag was so expensive, I may end up TRYING to grind it down just a tad bit smaller and see if that will work out and if it's not super time consuming, use the rest of the bag and find something with a smaller pellet/crumble later on. I've heard mazuri is such a great feed. My ducks are indoor/outdoor and are considered pets. That's why I wanted to keep them on a super high quality diet. I just wish the pellets weren't so big! Lol!! On the cover of the bag it shows a mandarin duck (which is SUCH a small breed of duck too!!!) and I'm sitting here wondering how they even eat it without the risk of choking. :(
