Meat bird growth ?

I'd keep them on your new feed (broiler)for a couple of weeks, they should feather out more.Keep feed in front of them with fresh water to boot. You may have to process alittle later than first thought.
Keep feeding and post a new picture in a week.I think your on the right track now. We'll all figure it out then. good luck Will

Thank you all--I will follow up in a week--by the way-I neglected to mention that they are sweet--nicer than some of my layers. They follow me and my daughter around and poke us on the foot to be picked up. Meanwhile I am trying to stay detached and focused on their feed conversion...

Oh yeah I have 31 meat birds--the greedy ones look better feather wise-but I think it is a combination of feed, genetics, and my inexperience. I still think they will be better than store bought--Its just another lesson in patience for me.

I have to toss this in here.....I just weighed one of my little fluffy chicken nuggets that is 7 days old today and it weighed all of 4 1/2 ounces. They are already feathering our on the wings. I am amazed at how quick these little buggars are growing.

Each day it's like you see a difference. I have 34 of these broilers, and 3 -- 50# bags of feed, how much more feed will I need? This way I can get some before a price increase.

So, it sounds like I need another bag or 2 or 3 or 4 or...........................

We feed our meat chickens 3 times a day(amount is always increasing). The reason for this is my daughters take some from the first batch to the fair. This way they have to do something with them daily. We only have gallon waters (so they can carry them) and they get filled 2x a day.

It may take an extra few days but not bad. They look for the girls to come out and they seem to be tamer than some of the other chickens at the fair.

I just went through a 50lbs. bag in 2 1/2 weeks (35 birds).I bought 450 lbs. today at the feed mill.I still may need a bag or 2 before it's over. It was $7.95 for 50Lbs. Will

Well--the birds have now been on 20% protein feed and I see a difference--maybe week 10 or 12 for processing now...
