Mice problem drowning in ducks water

Hi!
So when I have been cleaning out my ducks water I’ve been finding mice! I clean their water very often and whenever I clean it I find dead drowned mice!! Why??? It’s nasty! I’ve had 5 so far and today I cleaned their water and found one again. I’m getting soo grossed out! I only find one, not two, not three, but one. I feel bad for my 3 ducks that they have to drink out of this! I have 2 kiddie pools and the mice only go in the blue one. I don’t know where they are coming in but I’d think the dig..? One time I was in our school house right above the duck coop ( @11pm) and I could hear the ducks FREAKING OUT and then a *plop* went in their water so then I checked it out and the next morning I cleaned it and there was no mouse!...???
I need help getting rid of them!!
AND SPIDERS!! What is a good spider repellent or trick to get rid of the spiders? They make webs in the coop. Big wolf and other types

Fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and put a plank going to the middle of the bucket, set the plank on a stick or something so when the mouse walks the plank he falls in, you can also put a something in the water that flouts and put peanut butter on it so they jump in and drown so you can get multiple per night. By plank I mean a skinny piece of wood that won't hold the mouse up by floating.

Look up 5 gallon bucket mouse traps their are other ways to do it to. Fill it with water so they drown or they will jump out

Change the water bowl of your ducks ..maybe consider one with small holes so the mice can not get inside... another thing, consider getting a cat. I have 3 they have done miracles on my farm.

I can’t speak to the weird mouse dilemma, but wouldn’t be concerned about spiders. They’re good for any pests you might have like mosquitos, flies, etc. We even have black widows sometimes in the coop. You can brush off the cobwebs if it’s an aesthetic thing, but I wouldn’t be too worried about the spiders.

Sounds like a very good mouse trap, one that you ought to allow to continue. But as with any rodent problem, secure the bulk feed and coop feed first, then work on cleaning up areas that allow the rodents to hide, then if that doesn't work you will have to resort to poison. The main problem is always a poor feeder though. Take care of that and the mice will have to leave or starve to death.

@Meredith Brouillette i have 2 cats.
I keep their feed in a pan and they can eat whenever. Maybe that’s why they like the coop...? But yuck I hate mice !!

@My2butterflies I’m not really sure... could be, but they don’t like to swim in it once here is one in there.

Another method is to take a glass bowl and put some peanut oil in it. Set it out at night and the mice will fall in and be UNABLE to get out as their feet are covered in oil and at too slippery to climb out. In the morning dispose of as you see fit. But don't re-home as they will come right back.
