Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Wow! That is a LOT!
I don't move as fast any more! Getting any one project done is a success story around here...

The joys of moving.

The house will sell better if we can list it while outside is still pretty. It really is a beautiful setting. That gets hardest to see in November. October has good days for it and bad days in most years. This year everything is so early that it is worth pushing really hard to get ready asap.

Two decks are done. And half of the last one. I had all the prep done. That took three weeks - after I got serious about it.

The garage is nearly done.

The inside painting is, hm, started would be a good word for it. We would skip doing it but the people we bought the house from pulled (not carefully unscrewed) the coat rack, towel bars, curtain rods, tv wall mounts and such out of the walls - leaving the holes. And I haven't found a good way to get a sample big enough to match the colors; they didn't leave any leftover paint cans. Meh, the colors are mostly really bad - they let the children choose the colors (they said so although one would suspect that anyway).

We really should have fixed it all and repainted years ago but I had higher priorities.

I so completely get it! Best of luck on the sale, and move.

I had a busy weekend with family. My son in Chicago came in for a visit. Saturday went to Boulder Ridge Zoo with my daughter's family. Got to hang out with my great granddaughter. She is the most adorable thing, and smart! Saturday night, had pizza night and bonfire at my daughter's house with the whole family. Got to hang out with my new great grandson. I was such a perfect night, sitting around the fire and talking. Sunday, everyone came over here for a cook out. Played several games of volleyball and corn hole. So much fun. Today, went out for brunch with who ever wasn't too pooped out.
Son headed home earlier today. Think we tired him out. But what a great way to spend the weekend. To have all your kids and their families together.
chicken fairy, hope you enjoyed your ice cream.

@Sally PB I got it on Amazon and yep, we brew our own beer. It's more of hubby's hobby. Since we quit drinking, we'll have to figure out how to brew NA's: https://a.co/d/dFX6zXO

Today was cleaning the house, finishing up smoked pepper salsa and then we went to Mickey's for ice cream. My butterscotch was amazing. Hubs got PB Chocolate Cookie and it wasn't as good.

We have been really quiet this week!!!
Today I took eleven birds to the Geyer auction, seven cockerels, two pullets, and two hens. Missed one cockerel who needed to leave, probably means another auction visit this year, but peace has descended out there! The boys hit adolescence, and it was getting rowdy, not good for anyone. Nobody was human aggressive, but the drama was escalating, just couldn't wait any longer.
It was our freezer, or maybe a life at another farm, or a different freezer. Sad, but all those cockerels and future roosters just can't stay.
Meanwhile, must do more to get ready for winter! I'd love to find gardening help, especially an organic motivated person, not just 'Roundup and 2,4,d' to cure everything. Wishful thinking, right?
Beautifyl chilly fall weather right now, love it...

I remember well the first time I took 4 cockerels to auction, last summer, and how peaceful the coop became. Earlier this year I took another 4 cockerels to auction, same result. They sure "stir up" things!

We've been busy on the bathroom remodel project. The electrician came out on the assigned day, late, and didn't have the necessary items on hand, so the actual switch install got pushed back to the next day. That was supposed to be between 2-4 pm. But he was able to finish another job early and got here at 11 am.

He got the job done, and was a very pleasant young man. The cost was a LOT more than I was expecting -- $804 -- but everything has gone up, so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised.

Hubby said he'd sleep better knowing that a professional did the job, so the piece of mind is worth it.

While the electrician was doing his thing, hubby built a flat bed to go on our trailer so that we can bring home the shower walls from Menards. They said it would be "really expensive" to deliver them, and they'd be on a semi... which wouldn't be able to get back here anyway.

So now we have a flat bed trailer when we need it, and it was under $60 for the materials. Another side benefit from the bathroom project.

I think we're at about $4500 for everything, so far. The only other "big ticket" item will be the shower door. I've looked at Your Shower Door's website, and they say zilch about prices and times. So I'll stop there on my way home from the chiro next Wednesday. And be prepared for more sticker shock.

Any one have someone to recommend, other than Your Shower Door? We want glass sliding doors.

About shower doors, and showers/ bathrooms in general: Think about 'handicap accessible' now, and do it that way! Grab bars everywhere, they come looking like towel bars, not expensive, and have to be installed on framing some way. Also, a wide enough shower door; we had to get a custom door so the opening is at least 34", and 36" is best. Retrofitting would be a nightmare, do it now!
