Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

The realtor said the hoses and inside part of the dryer vent belong with the washer and dryer. Not with the house.

The movers said they usually take the hoses (and anti vibration pads) but not the dryer vent.

I don't know if is because the movers nearly always work in a different state so customs are different or if they just didn't want to deal with it.

I took the washer stuff but not the dryer vent. The decider was I would rather risk buying another one there than have to do something with this one if there is already one there. Theoretically, I could sell it, maybe. But I am terrible at selling anything (except houses, evidently - I was told my efforts at getting it ready added several thousand dollars to the offers.)

I'm sorry to disagree with another animal professional, but that coop is not large enough for the birds you have. Expanding your space out into an enclosed run would very much improve it.

A tarp over the top of the run is unlikely to work very well if you get any amount of snow or even worse ice. There have been people whose run roofs have had inadequate support, and they collapsed on top of their chickens, sometimes killing them. If your husband is handy he will understand what I'm talking about and be able to fix something sturdy as a roof or a support for a tarp.
My husband has actually drawn up plans to expend the run area out another 6 by 10 feet. Moving the door to the side and adding a small shade area and tower. Along with the feeder set up. i agree, they need MORE room to play.

When do you move?
Good question.
It is a long process this time.

We moved into a temp apartment in early September with a uhaul. But I'm mostly still here selling two houses. One or the other of us visits on most weekends - filling the vehicle.

Movers came this week for what goes into storage for up to six months. I took the rest to the house we had been renting out. I'm out of the home house and garage but still have the shed and garden to clear out (today).

I need to move out of the rental within a few weeks.

Then, we will move out of the temp apartment within a few months. Later, the movers will bring the rest of our stuff from storage.

I'm heartbroken about Coco, Mocha, and Nutmeg.

I always intended to given the best home I could as long as I could and then give them a quick end as peacefully as I could.

Dh has always thought that (end) wouldn't happen. I thought he meant I wouldn't be able to do it. Nope. He is not able to handle the thought of it being done, even if we don't eat them. And even if I don't do the deed.

He found two people who would add them to their flocks. And I have two other people who would take them. Two of the four, at least, will take them even though Nutmeg has some dry fowl pox and Mocha has a little dirty back end issues. Later, I figured out the dirty back end is probably not important - I think it is from giving them too many oats.

I think the transition will be soooo hard on them. Made worse because Coco just started molting this week. Nutmeg and Mocha are halfway through molting.

At least they all learned to watch for hawks - that will help. But they are too cautious, they will barely come out when I let them out. And they don't know about any other predators.

I love my babies even if people think I am crazy. 🤪

Ture to the support. I made a huge yard for them and after 2 winters, it caved in. Unfortunately, we weren't able to fix it this summer and winter is upon us. Every time it rained, there was mud right in the middle. So we put a huge 19x19 tarp and hopefully next summer we can redo the whole thing with more trunks in the middle and bigger in size since they are now 20. Feels bad to say 20 when they were 22 but 2 just disappeared.
I use an electric dog waterer and it keeps the water in the run from freezing. I have 4 heating plates at the ends of their roosting bars. Use woordchips during the winter but in the summer, I use pizza on their collection area and I clean it every 2 days. I also invested on a run chicken door that I manage on an app in my cell. 4 yrs and have changed the battery only twice and works great. They rush out to eat and drink every morning while I might be still sleeping, 😆 🤣

Health wise, I am just doing. Thank you Michelle and sorry I have not answered your text. I am having a love and hate relationship with my bed and sleeping habits. I miss my water bed. Hate mattresses. Some days I am in so much pain, it's crazy. But not leaving yet. 😘

Now they told me that I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. They told me of a cpap machine and said no. I am not afraid to die and besides, that would be a nice way to go.
I love ya all!

What about the Inspire thing they advertise on TV? I don't know anything about it, other than what the ads have said.
I am thinking about it but it is a complete surgical procedure, so other complications come with it and it's only 90% successful. Infection of the location, pain and lalalalalala.....
It goes on the upper right side which where I mostly sleep.[lucky me] and it is like a hook that triggers when on to pull the muscle of the tongue back. Now that part is the graphic one 😆 🤣 😂
