Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Very sad news to report. SimpleJenn, a BYC member who lives in the Muskegon area, lost her entire flock yesterday, most probably to HPAI. I haven't heard that a test came back positive, but all the symptoms were there.

She is a regular poster on the Fluffy Butt Acres thread. I think she's taking a very understandable break from posting while she deals with this tragedy.
What horrible news. I hadn't heard HPAI was that close to me.

So very sad, and scary for all of us. I kept mine in for six months last year, and am now free ranging again this year. we have way fewer Canada Geese here this year, after having our farm pond redone last fall. that's my excuse, and also now dairy herds nearby, and no cattle here or nearby either.
Still, very concerning...

I started winterizing our chicken run. North, West and south side covered, tomorrow gonna do east side and maybe using a spare for a corner of our goose pen cause those two just seem to care to sleep in their shelter. I'm exhausted. I forgot how tiring it is to winterize. Lots of zipties lol.

Awhile ago I had posted about a lady over here on the Southwest corner of Michigan, Benton Harbor, who is needing to rehome her 7 hens. They are young, about 6 months old and none are laying yet. Anyone have some room?

They look to be barred rock and Easter Eggers.
