Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. We got to see 2 of our 3 boys. It was nice. I have the hambone and veggies simmering in water on the stove, today. I'll make soup, tomorrow. Probably freeze dry some.
Thank you. It was nice here. Our daughter and grandchildren are 950 miles away, but our son joined us for dinner...he lives with us.

I have turkey bones simmering in my crock pot/slow cooker. It needs a little something, so I may grab a ham bone from the freezer to help.

I made bone broth with the turkey carcass today. The bones are good for another trip through the Instant Pot to make another batch of broth in the future. I use it to cook my rice.

I realized yesterday that I hate cooking a turkey for Thanksgiving. The entire production is stressful. I wish I liked doing it, but I ... just don't. So next year, it will be a turkey breast -- neither of us like dark meat anyway, so why do the full bird? And we'll eat it on Friday, so that it won't compete with the Lions game.

For a few years I bought a fresh turkey from a local friend and butchered it into parts for freezing. Was nice to have turkey all year around.
Sometimes I can find a fresh breast filet in the grocery, not this year tho. Ended up buying a frozen drumstick, roasting that got enough drippings to make some gravy. Also baked some dressing.
Turned out pretty good and will have a few plates to enjoy over the weekend....between shoveling the Lake Effect droppings.

Very rarely you can find turkey thighs in the grocery store. They are fantastic roasted.

I'm in the Chicago area, heading home tomorrow. Not looking forward to the drive up Michigan, sounds like it will be a snowfest most of the way.
It's not bad a long the lake, but we got quite a bit of snow in Water liet area. Roads are alright if you take it slow. Highways should be fine by tomorrow, they've been working on them!
