Never seen this before - underside of the run netting has about a 3-in icicle at every single intersection

We keep hearing loud crashing noises in the woods around the house as branches or whole trees let go. Does not make me want to go outside.
After a hurricane I hear those scarey "cracking wood" sounds telling me that trees are breaking. It's probably similar.

Starting to look like many places will not have power for maybe even another two or three days. The temperature stayed well below freezing, and the ice is not really melting out of the trees. I talked to a few lineman who said they just keep having more and more trees falling onto the lines. Not supposed to really warm up until Wednesday up here. Not that the chickens mind.

A big issue that has come up is that none of the gas stations in town were running, as most of the town has now lost power as well. That meant the closest gas station that was open was over 30 mi away. They finally got one going out on the reservation, but could not take credit cards at the pump because of lack of internet access. It was like being back in the '70s, cars lining out onto the main road, people patiently waiting in line to pay for their gas after they had reached the pump. And only one girl working at the station my gosh I felt so sorry for her.
Also closed, almost every store and restaurant in town including the grocery. Cheboygan and Petoskey apparently got it even worse than we did.
