The sound of the wind in the ice-covered trees is amazing. Power is out both out at my house and most of town again.

We missed all the bad stuff. Cold, lots of rain and wind, but we never lost power.
Stay safe and hope the power get restored quickly

After it warmed up overnight to the upper 30s, a lot of the ice is now melted. Lots of aftermath in terms of down limbs and broken trees, but most people have power back. The Mackinac bridge was closed for over 2 days due to heavy icing; when that ice falls from the top of the towers it's deadly. Happily they're back open again as of this morning, and town has emptied out of all the people waiting to get across.

I headed up to the UP yesterday from my parent's house in Big Rapids. I wanted to see the flock of Ayam Cemani/Australorp chickens for myself. It is a rescue situation. There were probably at least 10-15 roosters and 3 hens. Someone had left the gate open so 3 of us managed to corral and net 4 chickens I could take. 2 roos and 2 hens. They are very shy, they obviously have not had human interaction in quite a while. But they are docile and look very healthy. They are wary of me for now, but I did manage to get them to eat mealworms from my hand this morning. I'm heading home today, so I'll set them up in the isolation coop and run. No fighting between them at all, they all seem to get along well.

It's so sad to know that I had to leave so many behind. Obviously, not many rescues will take them because there are so many. If anyone can help, please do. There is at least one hen left.

Lol okay, well, when I tell most people they look at me REALLY weird. I got the birds into the isolation coop/run area, and spent time sitting with them. They're so timid it's going to take a long time to earn their trust.

They're starting to get used to their new space and I'm happy they're happy

I'm afraid my little bantam roosters would not have a chance against big boys like that, no matter how nice they are. I'm glad you were able to rehome at least some of them.
