Anyone in the Lansing/Jackson area have duck eggs for sale? A friend needs some for baking. Her son has a lot of allergies and can't do chicken eggs (or wheat or many other things) and is looking for more ducks eggs. If you know of anyone, please let me know. Thanks!

Locate CricketYang. She always has a bunch from her 4 pekins!!

Awesome thanks!

n/p. Funny, we were at her house for the evening last weekend and as she was collecting them she was saying she didn't know what to do with them so she was scrambling them for her chickens. She's in Mason.

Hey Vicki,
The two Welsummers were both sitting in the same nesting box with their heads poking out. Should have had a camera. They seem to be integrating well, but they're hanging tight together. Found their way back into the coop at dusk with everyone else and went up onto the roost on their own. Smart girls. I have my great big Marans roo cooped up for now, so at least they weren't terrorized.

Went to see how the brahma roo we rehomed is doing today. He seems quite content on our friends farm and he gets along okay with his goats. He's gotten awful big too, for being 3-3.5 months old. He isn't used to being handled but he isn't afraid of people either. He roams freely around the barn and in the small goat pasture, sometimes going where the goats can't.

Without a doubt our little EE will probably end up joining him out there. He's been alright for now, hardly makes much noise, but he is feisty and the black silkies get him riled up by running around like they are playing tag. I did take a closer look at all the silkies and noticed our little partridge one has what looks like little wattles. The black silkies appear to be bearded while partridge is not, so I can't really see if the black ones have the little wattles too.
Are wattles found on both silkie hens and roosters or just roosters?
The little partridge one is so skittish and scares easily so I don't really think it's a roo, but that could also be because it is the smallest and is on the bottom of the pecking order.

Went to the Newaygo Family Farm and Home swap yesterday. We got rid of our little seabright rooster and came home with two barred rock pullets, 2 mille fleur duccle's and a little pheonix chick. The barreds are 5 months and the other two about 2. The little chick is a couple of weeks (I think). we have them separated from our chickens that we had. How long should we wait to put them together? They look really healthy. We got the from John Pustai.

I'll down load some pictures later. Thanks for the input.

I told myself I was done collecting birds for the year...

But there were free! My sister told me to take them! I'm hoping they're all hens! about 4 months old and no wattles yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Hmm never seen one like the one on the far right! Cool! I want a white one sooo bad. The lady we got the ducks from had over 300, but they were all meat birds and the most awful ones I'd ever seen, literally killing each other as we stood there and they were mostly free range!
