That's great elanorkay. I couldn't make it in, sorry I missed the chance to meet you. I had to get things ready for a get together we were having to celebrate my oldest son's birthday. I cannot believe he is 27 already. Maybe I can go to the last one on Oct 9th.
Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Are your ladies laying yet? If so, how old were they when they started? The ones I have were born around April-ish. I'm honestly not even going to hold my breath. I'll be satisfied if I get an egg by Christmas from them. lol

My hens are 4 yrs old, so yes, they are laying. Moe, the black silkie is broody most of the time, but Scrappy is a pretty good layer. I don't remember when they started laying, but I think it was later than the others. The two silkies that I got from Shellyb don't lay very much, tho. Don't know why. Not broody, so ??? They are beautiful, tho. They're such little eggs that you need two to make one regular egg.

Well we are waiting for crowing out of any of them. We knew for sure that the brahma was a rooster even though he didn't crow, simply because of the characteristics, and now he'll gets awful close to crowing when startled. The EE and the silkies can always surprise us. If the don't crow much at all we might keep them around. If they have to go, they'll get rehomed to the farm brahma is on. They are around 3 months old now.

Hey, Vicki, I want to know what kind of sleazy, moral-less "sons" you're raising over there in Eaton Rapids. The geese hang out together in one big flock some, but they've been splitting into two flocks a lot during the day. "Yours" and "Mine" is usually the split. But today one of your buff ganders has jumped ship. I saw the flock of your birds walking by the window and I counted 6, not 7 so I stepped outside to see if I could find the missing buff, well I found him alright. Following my flock of young'uns around with stars in his eyes.

I think he's traded in his wife for a younger model.

I happen to live in Eaton Rapids too and I know there's a lot of "tradin'" going on around here! But there must be something with the ones that come from Vicki's because a while back I got a male and female Serama. Well two mornings in a row the female has been caught with a male Silkie!!! So yeah, I blame it on Vicki!! LOL

haha I know, it's still funny!

Everyone has adjusted very well. After the hens went around and snapped at everyone, they fell in love with Pretty Boy and keep following him. I don't know what it is with that boy. At night I've gone in the barn for something or to check on everyone and he's on the top rung of the roost surrounded by all the biggest hens while "his" woman is on the far end looking like she's about to be pushed off lol Guaranteed these new hens will be fighting for a spot next to him tonight as well!

Oh yeah, the Seramas and the wellies came from your place Vicki! lol

The bunnies have gotten a lot of attention today! I finally had to say (to myself mostly!) time to put them down and let them settle in. The little one has been looking sad ever since. As soon as we walk into the barn he runs up to the door of his room and nudges it. Aric put his foot down and said the rabbits won't be living in the house. Next thing I know I"m getting the evil eye because I happened to find myself sitting in the rocker on the porch with one. He said "I should have known it would be you breaking the rules first" LMAO!!

So here are a few pics of everyone settling in:

Picture032.jpg

This is the partially finished hyatt for rabbits. Eventually the lower part will be another level on each side, but Aric made it so we could take the rabbits in now.

I found them all cuddled up together when we got home. They didn't want to separate either I don't think!

Picture034.jpg

My daughter (20 in November) Angellica decided this is her bunny

Picture013.jpg

This is Aric's daughter's bunny. She's 3 weeks older than my daughter

Picture037.jpg

Broccoli straight out of the garden. I don't think we've had much out of that garden since we started all of this back in May lol

Picture025.jpg

LOVING the new digs...and shortly after this she found Pretty Boy

Picture022.jpg

They didn't wanna go out for a while! They found cushy spots and took a nap there!

So, thanks Vicki! Once again you made us happy customers

I am soooooo bummed right now... I know now that out of the 9 chickens that 3 are definitely roosters... I think there might be more... hope not... but I have to get rid of a few... I think the chickens are stressed... they just don't leave them alone. I am getting two eggs a day. Only one chicken will let me pet her. but then the others start pecking at her when I pet her... just don't get it.
