I’ve been trying to take better care of my lawn and I want the throw milorganite down. We let our girls roam free in the back yard. Is this safe for use with chickens? I can’t really find anything online.

Thanks!

There isn't much online specifically stating chickens can eat it just fine, but our chickens (silkies who aren't the brightest chickens in the world) dig around in the cow and/or horse manure we put in the garden and that can't be any worse. Milorganite is all natural and safe for wild birds, so should be fine for chickens.

If in doubt, maybe put it down before a rain, or water afterward.

It depends on how you feel about spreading biosolids (sewage) on your lawn and letting your birds on and around it. I myself use the same fertilizer/s on my lawn as my garden the only thin different is when I apply it. My lawn gets a 5-5-5 dry fertilizer about once a month IF I think the lawn needs a boost, I will spray it with a water soluble 7-4-4 along with Humic Acid.
