I had a couple of my hens get sick last fall around October. One of them died, and the other one has since made a recovery to full health. However, the survivor had not laid a single egg since until today. All my other chickens are normally laying. I have been giving this chicken a lot of time to see if she’s worth saving and I was ecstatic when she finally laid an egg today.
However, the egg was about 10% of its normal size. It was honestly smaller than a quail egg. It had no yolk, And I was wondering if this is going to be a common occurrence now or if it’s simply so tiny and yolkless because she is barely entering a new egg cycle.
She is only a year and four months old, so I highly doubt that age is a contributing factor. But, she is the bottom of the pecking order of my eight chickens, so that may be a factor?Any comments would be much appreciated if anyone has ever experienced this before.
