Mini Flake Pine Shavings for Chicks??

I have almost 2 week old chicks. Is it too soon for mini flake pine shavings, or should I use the larger flake? I’m afraid they’ll eat them.

That's all I've ever used for chicks except for the first week or so I put paper towels over the top of it. Hasn't been a problem for me.

I use large flake shavings..chicks are on paper towels over PDZ in the brooder for a week,
then they go out to coop section.

Thank you! So do I sprinkle the PDZ over the mini-flakes? As you can see, I am totally new to chickens and learning so much from these forums!

The only place I use PDZ in the coop in on the poop boards.
Just plain large flake on coop floor here....well and some straw from nests.

@Gray Farms is the one who uses mini-flakes.

In my observations chicks will eat anything they can swallow. I use this for Chicks. . Paper towels over top for a few days. . GC

I use TSC coarse flake right away. I also give them a dinner plate sized piece of sod from the edge of the yard for grit and greens.
