Miracle- Hello! guinea/chicken crossbreed

Oh, that looks exactly like our flock having a snack, with the cat making sure she doesn't get left out!

Very pretty guineas, BTW.

ETA: Are the guineas Lavenders?

Thank you. Yes, some are Lavenders. There are some pearls, a pied Lavender, and two other light ones that are different but I'm not sure what you call them. The cat loves it when I feed them milk and corn bread! The chickens, guineas, and cats seem to get along well with each other so far. Hope introducing the new little ones when they are older goes well. You never know. Any advice?

I especially like the pied one! We may get some guineas in the future, to help with our tick population.

Do you mean introducing the new little ones to the other poultry, or to the cats? This is our first batch of chickens, so I'm afraid I couldn't help you with integrating new members to the flock, but I hope all goes well!

Remember when sesamee street started the "something here does not belong here" ?

I think I saw a chicken with a cat tail in wordgirl's pic.

ETA: I would like to copy this pic and store it in my BYC unloads. Do I have your permission wordgirl ?

I'm talking about integrating the 3 little ones with the older flock. The plan is to cage them in the coop for 6 weeks before letting them out to roam with the others. Maybe by then they won't get pecked and picked on so much. At least I hope not. The larger ones can be really mean sometimes.

That's my picture and yes, you are welcome to copy it. Glad you like it.

Thanks and may I say you have a beautiful bunch of birds (even the one with the tail)

I am guessing your Guineas roost with your chickens. Guineas are such a goonie, but facinating creature.

I know what you mean about integrating the younger with the older ones. I introduced our 2 babies too soon, they were separated, but not good enough and the older ones killed 1 and really hurt another. We got two more to add to the injured 1 after he healed and then after making a better separation it took about a month for them to get used to each other. We let them free range together, but separated when locking them up. Now they roost together, but still hang out in their own groups when free ranging. Funny how the adults really hated the keets when they were smaller. Especially the females. Can't wait to see what happens when it's mating season again.

Miracle is 6 weeks old today. Here are some more pictures. Check out the beard and tufts on this guy. The feathers on his neck start right behind the head and stick out a lot like a bad hair day. Those right behind the head are redish in color and look a lot like Warlock, his daddy.

In this picture the color of both birds look a lot alike but it is just the light. The guinea is more gray while Miracle has a more redish cast to his feathers.
