Here are a couple more photos of Duece. He was one of my top favorites, but he had a dual personality. He could be sweet one moment and attack you the next. I was ambushed by him twice while trying to collect eggs. As gorgeous as he was, the last straw was seeing him attacking my sweet loveable buff Brahma. I snapped... these were taken 16 months before he was culled.

Don't ask how I captured this shot, I was surprised at it myself.

A couple more of Bram...
1/17/21 Bram with several other roosters, hens and ducks.

3/27/23 Bram passed a couple weeks after this was taken. He and the hen, a 5 yr old golden comet named Waddles who has leg deformities, together raised 20 broiler chicks. Even with a traumatic brain injury, I gave him a job and he took to the chicks almost right away. Waddles ankles are fused, causing her to waddle. She wasn't able to be around the rest of the flock (75+ chickens and 15 ducks) and getting around was difficult for her. She has been my goto hen for raising chicks, but never this many. Together, the pair had no trouble, they were very protective of them too. One broiler was spared, she lived to be 11 months and laid about 40 huge eggs for us.

Waddles is now 7 and getting ready to raise more chicks, but with help from her daughter, granddaughter and 4 Silkies.
