Moving chickens to a new coup

When moving chickens to a new coup how do I go about it the old one is only 20meters away I can lock them out of old one.
Do I just lock them in new one for a day or two or will they work it out after the first night once they see old coup locked.

If there's ample space, ventilation and light in the new coop (and it's not too hot) you can lock them in there a few days to help home them to it. I'd close up the old one too. Most likely when you let them out again you'll find a couple heading to their old home out of habit (just pick them up at/after dusk and put them in the new coop).
