UPDATE: 10/21/24 09:02 am - This morning some of the swelling went down and I could see a cut on her bottom eyelid. I assume she scratched herself. We are still doing the eye wash and eye gel. Now we added the Neosporin and put it on her scratch, as close as we could to her eye without getting it in her eye and on the red areas just below her beak.

Hi everyone Missy aka Ms.E 😘 has been moved into the house she has a great appetite she is scratching and making a mess so I know she's not feeling too bad.

Her right eye was very bad swollen red little crusty stuff on her beak very little crusty stuff. As of this moment, a day and a half of treatment, her eyes still kind of puffy but not as bad. she has it squinty looking pinkish color still around it but not pink in it... but... her eye was very swollen and I've looked through the threads of other people and posted on the Facebook group and purchase all the medicines that you guys recommended.

my question here is how long should I continue this process and when should I expect to see some kind of improvement.

I forgot to add it all started the day before yesterday her I was foaming we found it in the evening we wiped her face and then the next day we checked her again it was still foaming and a little puffy and throughout the day it proceeded to get very puffy and that's when I started searching for the medicines and what to use for our girl I totally forgot to add that part

What medicines are you giving?
1st eye wash
Then pet eye gel called Vetericyn
And vet RX in her water dish

She is still grooming herself too, I take that as a good sign. We also purchased Terramycin but we have not given it to her as of yet I was waiting to see if the eye wash and eye gel and Vet RX work 1st.

My first thought on eye and beak issues is biotin (B7) deficiency. So I looked it up and this is what I found.

Dermatitis. Biotin deficiency causes an exudative dermatitis around the mouth and eyes (Fig. 1)
