MY BABY IS CHOKING? BUBBLES FROM MOUTH HELP QUICK!

One of my 5 day old japanese batam chicks is acting really strange, I was sitting at my computer and I heard her squawk really really loud, I ran to the brooder and she's got a clear bubble coming from her mouth, I picked her up and wiped the spit/drool/snot from her mouth and she kept opening her mouth to the sky like maybe she's choking? I gave her a drop of water from my finger and she drank it and is peeping really loudly now, she did the same thing again, the bubbles and choking look and then stopped, now she's cheeping REALLY loud.....does anyone know what happened, I hope it doesn't happen again....what is this, and can I help her?

I'm so freaked out I can hardly type!

i wish i could help! ive seen mine do the same thing. i usually wipe their mouths and if i think they are choking i rub them like i would a newborn puppy that hasnt cried when born, and isnt breathing.

I rub the baby chicks back (back and forth really fast) until it chirps.

That exactly what I did, it's been a while and she hasn't "choked" again, but still very very very loud peeping, and she doesn't really eat or drink, just stands in the middle of the rest of the chicks and peeps more...

hmmm. the loud chirping is getting me. must have something stuck in its throat. i hope itll be ok! poor baby!

what do you use for the floor of the brooder?

I am using newspaper covered with two layers of paper towels for substrate....

I gave her a few licks of plain yogurt from my finger earlier in the day, would she have problems from that? I read it was good for them

It won't be the yogurt, as you say it is good for them good source of energy also.
And it liquid so it should go through smoothly.
Unsure about the brooder flooring issue

Have any of the other chicks bullied her or something like that?
Oh and is she/he sneezing?
When my hens eat there pellets they sometimes get it stuck in there throat, but then they sneeze a few times and there okay.
And is she gaping? Opening and closing her/his mouth?

You may want to put her/him somewhere fairly dark to calm her down.

I hope its ok.

She wasn't bullied as far as I know...yes she was gaping...but it's all over now and she's happy and healthy and eating and drinking and jumping around, so maybe it was some food that may have been a bit bigger than she could handle....she's my tiniest chick...but she's doing great, thanks everyone for your help!

Sounds like she got "water-logged". Feel of her crop and see if it is large and round and fluid filled. If she drank too much too quickly, this can happen very easily. Bubbles from the throat is a sheer sign of this, as the water is trying to come back up the throat from the crop and it coats the windpipe, thus making bubbles. They usually get over it, but it can be deadly if they fall over. It will drown them. Hold up their heads and massage the crop gently. Keep them upright. When you water them, let them have about 6 drinks then take the water away for about 10 minutes, then repeat. Sometimes chicks get overexcited at the sight of being watered and drink and drink and drink.
