I just purchased 2 new chickens. 1 lavender amerucauna and 1 wine dot. I currently have them quarentined away from my other amerucauna. I noticed when I brought them home yesterday the lavender amerucauna's nose was running. It was a clear liquid. I checked on her today and it's still wet. I'm worried she might be sick. She is also very thin and she has poop or snot in her feathers on her body. I think its from the gunk on her nose getting on her feathers when she preens herself. Other than that she seems fine, and the wine dot seems fine as well. I'm really worried about her. If anyone can help that would be great.

Welcome to BYC. It is wyandotte or ameraucana. New additions to the flock should always be quarantined for 30 days at least to watch for signs of disease. The most common signs of a respiratory disease are watery eyes, nasal drainage, head shaking, gasping, sneezing, or rattly breathing. Most diseases are contagious and can make carriers of a whole flock, even if symptoms go away. In this link you can read about symptoms of infectious bronchitis, mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG, CRD,) coryza, and other respiratory diseases:

Thank you for your help. I took her back to the lady I bought her from and got some medicine for her so she should be fine now.

The lady you got her from had medicine? What did she give you?
Do you have an existing flock?

I'm sorry that the new girl is sick, but if you already have an established flock, then you need to consider whether or not you want to keep and/or add a sick bird to what you have.
Symptoms/infection from respiratory illnesses can be treated and managed, but even if the sick girl gets better, she can pass that on to your other chickens and they can get sick too. Most respiratory illnesses make chickens carriers for life.

What are your goals for your chickens?

I am fairly new to chickens also, and also bought two Brahma chicks that have runny noses but NO other symptoms, they didnt have it when i brought them home that I noticed, I thought I looked them over GOOD buut.. and also they were bought on a whim so I used hay for a couple days till I could get correct bedding, so I wonder if it could be allergies. I had developed a strategy to only buy hatching eggs from reputable people to add to my flock that way I would cut down on possible illness exposure, I know some illnesses can be transferred to eggs but less than bringing a chicken in. Problem is finding the eggs, my husband wanted Brahmas so I found these chicks locally, no eggs though, I currently have them on the other side of my property in quarantine, new cloths Everytime I go take care of them, bleach the bottom of my shoes..whole deal. I DO NOT want to give my currently healthy flock any illness over two chicks, i dont want the heartache or to have to constantly nurse sick chickens ( i know that sounds aweful) I hate to cull but I will if I need to, I want to keep a healthy flock and someday get into breeding blrw. Ughhh, I should of waited and got hatching eggs but wanted to include my husband by getting him a couple Brahmas. Desicions, decisions..
