My chicken has his toes curled into a ball and is off balance and can barely walk we are thinking it’s a staff infection or a Vitamin b2 Deficiency his legs move but not to much. He was also in a fight by the time we got home his nail is short so we think it regrew after it was ripped off allowing bacteria to get inside causing an infection. What would be the treatment for the infection or deficiency?View attachment 2512910

Oh That doesn’t look great. What I did for one of my chicks that had curled feet was
I spread the food out like a normal foot, I took some pinters tape and took one 2 in long peice, cut it in half, snadwitch the foot and cut the tape around the foot. They kind of look like duck feet. I left it on until the chick was walking normaly. Can I see a pic of how he stands?

Pinning the foot doesn't work for chickens over a week old.

Your chicken could have been born with a deformed foot or it could be an illness. How does its eyes look?

Welcome to BYC. Can you post a picture of the chicken? How old is he? Was he vaccinated for Mareks disease? His symptoms could be from a vitamin deficiency, a head injury, or from something like Mareks disease. Make sure that he is drinking water, since dehydration could also be a problem. I would get some human vitamin B complex from your vitamin section at stores, and give him 1/4 tablet daily crushed into a spoonful of water or some food. The riboflavin in B complex cannhelp if the curled under toes are due to a riboflavin deficiency.

How cold has it been there? Frostbite or a crush injury could have caused the toe injury. I would just soak it in some soapy water for 15 minutes and watch it. Plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic are good to apply.

Hello Maxi01! Sorry to see your chicken suffering this! Definitely start vitamin/mineral supplement or tonic treatments, now. I would treat the foot a couple times a day by cleaning it and applying topical medications. I like natural as much as possible and no antibiotics orally, from me. Consider removing the bird from the coop and limiting the stress on the foot, while treating. The injuries to the foot may have caused the curled toes? Looks more like injury problem to foot. I have seen chickens loose toes or nails from getting them hung in hardware cloth wire! Preventing/treating parasite or bacterial infestations of the wound, while supporting the healthy intake of Vitamins and minerals, is all I would do. The curled toes should correct in several weeks or eat the bird if it is crippled and suffering bad effects from that. Good luck and best wishes!

It never had any deformed foot but when we got home from vacation he was bloody and it looked like he got attacked by another rooster
