My chicken was attacked last night, and now by morning time now has baby maggots growing.

OH NOooo... so here is the update on my "little one" chicken.. the clicking sound she has been making continues... we just found a large lump under her neck.. we are thinking it it the wound that sealed over and is now infected.. we tried to keep it clean and moist so it would heal from the inside out.. but we think it sealed over and now there is a pocket of infection under the healed area......Can I give her more antibiotics.. actually we started it last night .01 ml of PCN that we gave before........ My real question is, why does it say chickens should only receive 4 days of antibiotics?????.. When I got got bit by a dog real bad, puncture wounds, they had me on antibiotics for a month... Please somebody help me with this.. She can not even swallow, I quit tube feeding her once I found the lump on her neck and realized that was causing her so much pain.. .Can I continue antibiotics for more then the recommended 4 days. ????

Can you post a photo of the lump on the neck? You may need to seek vet care and have them open up the wound and remove the pus.

Which "type" of Penicillin do you have? Procaine Penicillin G dosage is 1/4ml (.25) given 1 time a day for 4 days. You mention you are giving .01ml(?) did you put the decimal in the wrong place.
I am assuming the Procaine Pen G, is used for a short period of time to avoid Procaine toxicity in birds.

I have seen where instructions are given for a longer period of time (up to 7days), but would use caution and do some research when extending the timeline when using antibiotics. https://sites.google.com/a/poultryp...oultry-podiatry#chickens_penicillin_injection

Does the lump under her neck feel soft like an abscess or like air under the skin? If the wound closed up and you feel that it is an abscess, I would be tempted to clean it with betadine and lance it to see if you could drain it (push out any pus or infection. Then you could try to flush it out with some peroxide once only, or some saline or weak betadine. A syringe or turkey baster could be used to flush it.
Procaine penicillin G is only to be given for 4-5 days. Can you get any oral antibiotics from a vet?

I was just rereading some info on procaine pen g. It normally is given for 4 days, but in some animals it is used for 3 days, and in some up to 7 days. Usually it is stopped 1 day after symptoms improve. So you probably could give it for a few more days. Here is some reading:

Here is another site that says no more than 4 days, but since this is a new infection, you can try it again. https://www.revivalanimal.com/produ...injection-suspension/all-dog-and-cat-supplies

How many days since her last dose?
