We loaded (and unloaded) our 95 roos at the butcher yesterday and I have a horrid rash on my forearms now from their wings flapping! I think the teeny barbs that hold the feathers together got stuck in my skin or something cause it feels like pins and needles! Ugh who'da thunk I'd get a rash from chickens!?

It's probably more like teeny tiny scratches on your arms. Put some neosporin on them, that should help. And next time wear long sleeves

well whatever it is it has teeny bumps like a rash that have a little bit of yellow pus in each bump... I used some Watkins pain relief cream for rash and burns with lidocaine in it...its helping, I'm just aghast that my chickens are ANOTHER source of allergy misery for me...

Sounds like a bacterial infection, rather than an allergy, if there's pus. Maybe there is something in your soil, or in the pen. Did anybody else handle them, and get the same thing?

If it's an allergy, Benedryl gel (or spray, or cream) would help a lot more than the Watkins, I'd think. If it's an infection, you need to disinfect it and apply something to kill the bacteria. Maybe use both the Bendryl and an antibiotic ointment.

Lidocaine is a numbing agent so it will feel better, for a while. I agree, triple antibiotic ointment or cream, or Bacitracin. You can get the triple antibiotic (Neosporin) with pain relief in it.

No one else has gotten a rash. DH always teases me about my overly-sensetive skin and how I could break out from bath water. The rash still itches a little but the bumps all scabbed over and its healing up now.

You might try spraying your arms (or whatever part might be exposed) with Benedryl spray before handling things that have caused a problem in the past, and see if that helps.

I have allergies myself, not quite a severe as that, but bad enough, so I can sympathize. I've sometimes joked that I must've been born on the wrong planet, because I'm allergic to this one.

Just NEVER take benedryl tablets or capsules AND cream. The two together will darn near kill a person!!! (If you don't believe me ask your dermitoligest.)

I would wear sleeves if I was you! (the meal will be worth the extra protective gear
