My cockatiel's wing feathers won't grow back what should I do?

Could that have happened when she hurt herself?
Yes. If you can, spread the wing out as far as possible for a photo; try to have your hand out of the picture as much as possible. The joint could have been damaged to the point that the feathers would not grow back; but I find that doubtful. If that had been the case I think you would have noticed more damage than just missing feathers and a little blood. Did she use the wing right after hurting it? If not, can you remember about how long it was before the wing was being used? Losing feathers alone would not have bothered her for long; real damage would have taken weeks to heal.

It was very painful for her to fly right after she hurt herself, she would scream and bite at her wing. I made sure she didn't do any flying until her wing was better, but she still lifts her wing up like it hurts sometimes. She only stays in the air for a few seconds and she really has to flap those wings. She's terrible at landing and she sounds like a helicopter when she flys (literally.) The only time she flys is when she gets spooked. Here's some pictures of her wing @nchls school:

It is so hard to see what is really going on in a picture. In the picture some of the flight feathers look to be growing in, but I assume this is not the case. From your word description I know that she had to have hurt the wing a great deal. The loss of her flight feathers would not have caused that much pain so her wing had to have been badly damaged. Below is a picture of what the wing should be though I'm sure you have compared her wings; right and left. Not being able to handle and see the bird, I am of the opinion that the wing has been damaged to the point that the wing will never regain the feathers as they should be.

In the picture above the feathers being held by the fingers look like flight feathers that are growing in.

You're right, it does look like new feathers are growing (Murphy's law LOL.) If they are, how come it took so long for them to grow? That took a really, really, long time for them to grow.

It could be that she had molted just before her accident. Hopefully the feathers will grow in nice and strong and she will be as good as ever. And if not, she will be a wonderful pet anyway.

Yes, I'm really hoping that is what happened. She is the sweetest birdie in the universe and she will always be loved no matter what. I'll try to get her and Tweety to eat better, maybe that will speed up the growing process. Thank you so much for helping me with this, I'll keep you updated. :)

You are certainly welcome!:highfive:

Hi @nchls school, here's an update on Rosie's wing. She lost even more feathers just a few weeks ago, her wing looked like a stump with hardly any feathers. I was not very successful with getting them to eat better, they're so stubborn. I would take their seed away and they would go days without eating, and refuse to eat vegetables and fruit. It's also hard because it spoils so quickly.

A few weeks ago I got three cockatiel mixes; one with orange essence, one for molting and conditioning, and one with fruit, nuts, and grass in it. I mixed those 3 together and I've been giving them that, and some multi drops in their water. I leave the same food in their cage for a couple of days and I only give them some more when the fruit and seed pieces are gone. They've actually been eating it, I'm surprised. Rosie is getting her feathers back and her wing looks better than it has ever been! Hopefully she gets them all back in a few more weeks. :)
