Hi everyone,

As the title says, my dog saved my family‘s life, quite literally.

Before I start, I’m going to say that this is the same dog I posted about earlier that was having aggression issues. First I wanted to let you all know that he is doing a lot better now. We were able to figure out proper training and it is helping him with his aggression.

That is not the point of this post, though.

While I was asleep, my sister got up at 9:45 PM MST. She said in a text to me and my brother that “Jack had the Zoomies and won’t calm down.” She said he was whining like crazy. It was clear he was trying to tell us something. When my sister got in the kitchen, the first thing she smelled was gas.

We found the source of the gas leak, it turns out somebody left the burner on without a flame. Very dangerous, but we don’t know who did it.

After fixing the problem, Jack calmed down.

If he wasn’t zooming around and whining, we wouldn’t have known there was a problem. We could’ve died from a gas leak or gas explosion.

This dog saved my family‘s life by warning us that there was a problem.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this true story. Please let me know what you think of it.

Happy holidays!

Jared, that's awesome! So glad to hear you and your family are safe. What a good dog. Also glad to hear you got the aggression resolved. Thanks for sharing! ❤️

For the record, it’s not completely resolved. He’s almost there, though.

We discovered that he has a weird tick against black hoodies. Maybe it was because he was abused by somebody in a black hoodie in the past.

We don’t know, but he’s almost there.

Regardless, he saved our lives, so he is a permanent member of the family now. He earned his place.

Well worth the training effort! He's beautiful.

I agree, the training was worth it.

He’s 100% mutt. He’s obviously got some Doberman in him according to a DNA test.

I actually just talked to my father and we figured out what happened. It turns out that my father tripped in the kitchen and accidentally hit the stove, and he unknowingly turned the gas on. That’s what caused the leak.

Wow, that's amazing!

That's excellent, dogs are very tuned into their environment, its always a good idea to pay attention to their body language. He's a good boy! ❤️
