Yea I had the same problem, I kinda 'went with the flow' until it made sense. The most logical size pane of glass that home depot sold was 10" x 12", so that determined the size of my window (plus a bit of width for the frame). Once I built those windows, I held them up to the side of the coop and marked where I wanted them to go, and just started cutting.
You did a very nice job! Thanks for the info on the windows, did you have to use a router on the frame?
I don't have a router so I rigged up my circular saw to do what I needed.
This is the only picture I have of this part of the window build, unfortunately it was starting to get dark outside. You are looking at an 8' 1"x2" with two trenches cut side by side int the narrow end. In the background of this picture you see some 2'x4' blocks screwed down to the table with my circular saw clamped down on top. This all came together to create a template that I could feed my board through. After feeding it through once for the first cut (first pane of glass) I flipped the board around and fed it through again for the second cut (second pane of glass).
The next day I cut this board up to create the frame, I ran a bead of glue into the trenches and wrapped them around the glass.
Very clever thinking! Thanks for the very helpful information!
