My first ducklings

I got one each of welsh harlequin, Cayuga, silver appleyard, saxony, and magpie. They all arrived safely! If the hatchery got it right they are all female.

They’ve found everything in their brooder now. They have been napping a lot today under the brooder plate. But I can see the water and food have gone down since I filled everything this morning

My ducklings had an adventure last night. We had a power outage that lasted 8 hours. That means no brooder plate. They were in my garage. We brought them into the bathroom in a little cardboard box with a hot water bottle for warmth and food and warm water to drink to keep them as warm as possible without power. They survived the night without a brooder plate! It was 68F in the house when the power came back on.
