My first ever crop issue, 10-week-old Pullet

Good grief I can't believe how much I OD'd her on the Corid dose šŸ˜¬last night, that wasn't very smart. But she's doing okay this morning. Crop is still strange same as yesterday it does empty "some," overnight. Now she's having a hard time walking, she's high stepping and fell right off her roost bar. Poor little thing. More Clotrimazole and coconut oil this morning. She's just going to hate me by the time this is over. Sure hope she improves soon.

I've been doing the Clotrimazole twice/day (total of 4 doses so far); gave coconut oil once yesterday morning. She seems better this morning! Still weird crop but overall seems improved. Her balance is a bit better, crop is not quite the balloon it used to be. Its smaller and slightly firm, offset too to the side. If her breath doesn't smell bad, should I stop the Clotrimazole? It's day 3 of Corid water for all 4 of them.

No, I'd got the full 7 days with the anti-fungal.

Thought I'd go ahead and finish this out. It's been a month long battle and we lost this morning. Just last night we again put her in a hospital next to her flock mates but separated to give the crop another rest period and to see if she was pooing, if anything was getting through the blockage. We said to each other it'll be the first time we've ever taken a chicken to the vet, but let's do that if she's not better tomorrow.

The hubs is on morning chores. He picked her up to evaluate her, see if crop emptied at all, massage.... And she launched a lot of liquid. He bent her down and back up a few times, pulling at a straw mass as fast as he could to get it all out but she aspirated and passed in his arms.

The summary is that she had a straw wad blockage. Weeks of all sorts of treatments just did not break it up. I see why extraction either by vet or at home is sometimes the only way to clear it. This sweet little gal also had Wry tail, making me wonder about her genetics... possibly she had poor crop muscles and had we made to the vet for surgery, it may have re-occurred. It's always sad but I'm glad she enjoyed her time before this and is now not in crisis. šŸ¦‹
