My girls won't roost at night!

Well as you can see tonight I added another roost took away the smaller one and I got 2 more to join the 2 that were up there last night! I just put fresh bedding down and want to add my poo board tomorrow, There is plenty of room between the wall and the roost. They are catching on I just don't want to put the poo board in and have the other girls think it is a nest box under there and keep sleeping there. Sorry the pics aren't better but it is a digital camera and it is dark in there as you can see out the door. All I can do is point in the direction I want to take the pic. I guess I need to have more patients.

sweet.

I edited my post above. Yes, now I can see there is enough room behing the roost. Looking good!

I don't see any combs turning reddish et, but they look big enough that that should come soon -- along with maybe some squatting, messing around the nests -- and eggs!

If you haven't, sometimes a few golf balls or other fake eggs in the nests will encourage them to lay where you want them to.

Well the good news is 2 more joined the others tonight, I didn't take anymore pics. I don't even have my nest boxes out yet, they are to young to lay and I don't want them trying to sleep in them. Told hubby he has about 6 more weeks to get them done. And of course the perfect spot for them is where they huddle in the corner, along that wall. Got the poop board all put together waiting for me to paint it tomorrow. That means when it goes in the roost is going to go even higher. And I am hoping they don't try to roost on the poo board! Well 6 down and 6 more to go on the roosting problem.

the might roost on the poop board. Make sure your not putting the roost to high. I have to have lower roost because my girls wings are clipped and they are fat.

Usually they huddle for comfort or company. I can't imagine they are cold this time of year, even up North. They grow their own "fur coat," with those feathers on top of their down.

to fat! I don't clip wings. My girls are fully enclosed in a run so they can't fly away! And I will see to it they get a ladder to help them reach the roost!
