Hi all my hen killed and ate a fly while in my house. Is that something to worry about. I read it can cause worms? Surely they must eat them when ourside so do I need to worry?

Good girl! Get rid of those flies! I'm sure she'll be fine. I watched my pullets fight over a frog they found and gobbled it right up. They were fine. I can't imagine what they find and eat when we're not watching...

Birds can get worms just from scratching in the dirt, a fly is nothing to worry about in the slightest, just deworm regularly regardless and you'll be fine

Chickens are biologically designed for the bulk of their diet to be bugs, rodents, small reptiles and small amphibians. This whole chickens must eat solely feed or what humans prepare for them is a very modern concept. Watch a free ranging chicken. 80% at least of what they eat when they are out during the day will be bugs and anything that’s alive yet small enough for them to fit in their mouth. Mine don’t even touch their feed until they come back in at night, they might eat a little wild vegetation, but they spend the bulk of their time eating anything moving that will fit.
