Hopefully you can help me crack this case. One of my three girls is looking like a rooster and I can’t have roosters where I live :(
They are all three Rhode Island Reds. We got them in April so I want to say they are about four months old. I’ve been doing loads of research and all signs are pointing to rooster. However, the chicken has not crowed or developed spurs. BUT she was the first to develop her comb, she has what looks like hackle feathers around her neck that are iridescent, the tail feathers are also coming in iridescent and they are more stringy. I’ve also caught her chest bumping her sisters a few times. She’s the friendliest one of the bunch too & the most dominant. She’s the leader for sure! She is slightly larger than the other chickens. She just looks different from them. I’ve been going back and forth & hearing/reading different things from people saying that some hens do also chest bump and have iridescent feathers. But I’ve been looking up pictures of Rhode Island Red roosters that have those iridescent feathers. I’ve also heard that not all roosters crow? So I’m worried if I depend on the no crowing situation because she’s not doing it yet, she’ll eventually do it and it’ll be too late. I’ll have to scramble to find a new home. I’m going to put some pictures of her side by side with her sister so you can see the comb difference. I had a feeling she was a he as soon as that comb started coming in but I was waiting to hear her crow. I’m open to all suggestions. Please and thank you so much! Your help is so much appreciated!!!!

Not exactly :(
This is my first time raising chickens so I couldn’t exactly how old when we first got them. They were pretty small. I’m guessing they are about four months old.
