Okay, I set 23 sillie eggs on the 13th and everything was going good. A had 6 clears and one early quitter so that left me with 15 eggs developing nicely. Well, 4 days ago I lost power and don't have a generator so I took the knowledge from this group and put hot water in water bottles to keep the temp up. I also wrapped a blanket around the incubator. I was up several times during the night to change the water because it didn't stay hot to long. Especially at night. The temps fluctuated alot but I tried to get it to stay at 101 but mostly it was at 100. A couple times at night it dipped down to 80s I believe 84 being the lowest. And the humidity was going haywire. Must of been all the rain we had here.
So this afternoon I finally got my power back and I waited till dark to candle to see how bad it was. Well I can't believe it but I saw kicking in everyone of them!!! I was all set to throw them away or at least most of them but they live! So everyone don't underestimate the power of life, these chicks want to live LOL This is my first hatch with my genisis and I'm really excited about them hatching this weekend. I know there could still be problems but they obviously have a strong will to live.
So maybe they can withstand alot more than we think and everything doesn't have to be perfect in order for them to hatch.
I will update when they start hatching!
And thank you to everyone who shares their knowlegde and experience with all of us. If I hadn't been reading about power outages I never would have known.
Thankyou!!!
