(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
This is the fourth time I have had backyard chickens: in Texas, in Colorado, here in Oakland California 15 years ago, and then again starting a few months ago. Still so much to learn!

5 Americanas, 4 others
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Keeps me active. Wipes out the weeds. Green eggs!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Raising kids and grandkids, political activism, repairing and eco-upgrading 110-yo house.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well the one thing that comes to mind is that 10 years ago, I felt "defeated" by the RATS eating spilled chicken grain, so I gave them away. Then I discovered the new Grandpa's ratproof treadle feeder, and I decided to try again. Success!

Every time I Google a chicken question, the best, most trustworthy answer comes from BYC. Thank you!
