My lovely yellow goldens.

If your not going to incubate but maybe sell? After about 2 weeks of laying you can crack them open into a small class to see if they are fertile. The fertile eggs will have a 'bullseye' on the yolk. Here's a couple of picks of what to look for.

Thank you!
I'm not going to do either, I was mostly curious if Prim might be fertile the first season or not. :)

Thank you! I am sure I've read/heard that the males are not fertile until second season but I wasn't confident. He certainly acts fertile! 😅
I bought some eggs one time, they were suppose to be pure Amherst but the male I hatched out wasn't colored out yet but fertile, I didn't find out until he colored out that fall that it wasn't pure...too late, I hatched out about 25 Amherst cross chick's. Goldens are the same, fertile the 1st breeding season.

Wow, that's bad luck! What did you end up doing with the chicks? Just sold them as crossed?

Also, I only Thought that was the first egg... when I did a more thorough search the next day I found a hidden nest with eight perfect little eggs in it!
I'm pretty sure Buttercup and Daffodil are both laying since they are "fussy" with the eggs. Not too sure about Dandelion since she doesn't seem to bother or nest at all. :)

A duck egg, some pheasant eggs (they almost look fake) and a chicken egg. A wonderful wee Easter collection. 🥰
