Please help!
I’ve made another article following my other one I made recently (“can I let my pigeon fly?”).
The story is, I have a pair, Penelope being my white pigeon and Usain being my gray racing pigeon. I do not really use them for racing, but pets.
Penelope would kiss her mate and of course, he would too. She soon laid an egg and I was excited as ever. She laid 2, but I’ve candled them and only one is fertile.
I would let them both out but of course, the female stays in and incubates the eggs while Usain is out and getting twigs for the nest(his flight feathers were taped). However, this time, he was out and about until he got chased out by kids about 7 houses away from mine. Since there’s a gate to enter my neighborhood, I’m positive he would’ve flown out.
But the thing is, how is he going to eat? He is skittish and would’nt fly down. Another thing, cats are everywhere on the streets, is it possible he’s dead? Or one last thing, is there hope he’s coming back? He can’t just abandon his wife and eggs!

With predators like cats around, It does not look good. The fact that wings are disabled also adds to sad news. Pigeon not able to escape.:hit
It is not that he abandoned his mate, just not able to return/find his way on foot.
Not sure how you should handle the situation with those unruly children. Maybe discus with their parents??? Let them know what a terrible thing they did.
Your female is capable of raising the one hatch-ling you may have on her own. :)
But you never know.......... You may be surprised to see him return. :thumbsup

Thank you very much! However, Penelope is starting to loose interest in sitting on the eggs. I can’t let the egg die, Usain is VERY important to me ever since I was young.

He still might come back. Are you saying your incubator won't hold the proper temp? If she stops sitting it wouldn't hurt to try and keep the embryo going a bit longer. Have you candled the egg? A thermometer and a box with a light bulb....? Worth a try since the offspring of Usain is important to you.

Yes I have candled the egg and it has a baby. I have raised Usain’s grandparents long ago and this baby is all I have of him.Penelope is not sitting on the eggs at all! My incubator is messed up and gets too hot to a point where it melts itself and releases fumes. Here where I live, it’s hard to find a single bulb. I’m just freaking out my poor Usain won’t come back:hit:barnie:idunno

I feel your pain. Being a pigeon fancier comes with a good deal of heartache. If he has not returned in 3 days chances are he is gone. The band may give you some added hope.

I did I fact raised him and sent him racing to my relatives until they give him back to me. I heard he was a very good breed. Is it possible he flew back to the old loft without knowing the way back?
