My Quail Have Started Laying :)

mine are 2mo old and still not laying, is there a trick to get them started?

What kind of quail do you have? Coturnix quail start at about 6 weeks. If you quail are not laying, make sure you are feeding them a high protein food -- nonmedicated gamebird starter. Make sure your birds feel calm and safe. Make sure they have fresh water at all times. And make sure you have hens.

Button quail won't lay until 8 weeks or more. Bobwhites probably not until next spring.

Maybe they need more Protein

I read somewhere that if you put a decoy egg into their pen it also encourages them to start laying. Can't remember where I saw it but the person used a beat up golf ball and it seemed to stimulate them to lay.

Mine from 2 different breeders took closer to 9 weeks, but haven't missed a beat...
