Yes, if the redness is right under the vent, it may just be hormones. I've seen that in my roosters, just monitor that area to see if the skin stays the same.

My rooster is 5 years old,been kept in his run mostly,but every now and then let out.In the morning and afternoon he was doing fine,my boyfriend said last he looked at Richard,he was doing his bath.Then about hour later Richard was struggling to walk.This happened 2 days ago .he's eating and drinking just fine.
