I just came outside and my roosters tail is like gone. I know there are hawks around here buy it's only been one time since a hawk came. It doesent seem to hurt him. His tail is just like a numb. What was it? Will his tail grow back?

How old is he? Could he be molting? With a molt, he will lose his tail feathers, then look a bit messy elsewhere as he loses other feathers. If molting is not the case, then he may have been attacked by a predator, but most chickens are molting this time of year.

I had that same issue with my buff rooster. He is either molting or being pecked on. A lot of people assume; "A hen wouldn't peck on a rooster!"
But I don't agree with assuming. It is very possible for a rooster to be pecked on. Have you tried moving around his shorter tail feathers to reveal there is any scratches or minor cuts? Feather picking, bleeding?

I wouldn't worry too much, my Buff lived most of his life with a shorter tail. Trust me, I bet yours is just molting and that it'll grow back in no time! :)

He is a very handsome rooster by the way! Have a good night.

He is a year and a couple months

Hopefully, you can figure it out eventually. Molting is likely the cause, but other chickens or roosters could pull the tail feathers out. I notice that my roosters and hens with prominent tails tend to lose those feathers first when a molt starts.
