My daughter's EE hen's wing was droopy about a week ago. Upon further examination we found a nasty infected lump under her wing. We also found mites while checking her over. We tried to find the site of any injury and found none. We treated her for mites with Ivermectin and gave her three doses of Liquamycin IM and also directly in the infection site. We also soaked her wing with warm water and Epsom salts 3 times. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this is or how to better treat it? We are trying to find a vet who will see her but haven't found one yet. Thank you for any help you can give.

How is your hen doing? That did look like a pretty nasty infection, if she were mine I would include Epsom salt soaks to the injury. I use some old towel strips soaked in warm water, Epsom salts and a dot of detergent and use it as a gentle compress. I'll do that on injuries about three times a day.
I just treated my hens for mites as well, I made sure to clean out all bedding in the coop and treat all the hens and their house at the same time.

She still has quite a swollen wing but we got rid of the mites. We are going to try your suggestion of a warm compress with Epsom salts.
