As the title say, this baby chick lately sleep a lot and chirping while sleep. She looks tried and while sleeping her head lift a bit up with gaping the air but not all the time just sometime with that position her usual sleep position is turn her head to the back but still gaping(?). The chirping still a lot for a while then gone quite and make sound again. I thought she's cold but when wrap her around blanket she's like it for a bit the took out. I thought she lethargic so gave her some water mix honey well that's woke her up she didn't like it. I also mix garlic and lemon into another water for her to drink. She love it and stop making that gaping. So anyone tell me please if it's normal or not normal. I add picture and video here for you guys see. It's really my first time to have a baby chicken. We have 3 hens but they were around 1 month or a bit older. We used to have baby duckling but 20 years ago. So not sure about baby chick behaviour and super worry. I don't even know that slippery floor no good until I notice that her legs weak so I am now very careful with and place hair tie with straw put around her legs to make her walk better. I don't even know if I'm over reacting or not. Also you guys can find previous threads of how I got this one. What format of video this forum allow to post. Mine have as in mp4 format.

Edit: forgot to mention that she's eating normal very alert when see foods and poop also normal too but a bit less poop than since she's sleeping more.

What's her diet? Brooder set up?
If she's cold, she needs under the heatlamp, not in blanket, she can't generate much heat yet.
Don't add garlic or lemon to her water.
What's her poops like?
Where'd you get her?

She looks like a Cornish x.

I gave her chick starter and some eggs. I have heat pad on but she's always with us as human warm. Her poops normal with a bit water not watery hard poop. I got her from shop that selling all sort of chickens and at the beginning I post asking breed lots of people said not cornish x. She has black mark colour on her head and her legs white but now slowly turning pale yellow. That's why I am keeping her from my uncle's wife.

She might be failure to thrive or coccidiosis, can you get coccistat?

Update

I gave her medicine and probiotic. I mix in water but she too smart. She had a bit then later refused to have anymore. I mix that water into her food instead. I think I wet chick starter mix with egg for her until (hopefully) she getting better. I'm not sure if it's because we took her to walk and sunbath outside a few days ago then she just ate something off of the ground. So now I'm just hope she's going to be okay.

Final update: for those who might have these similar and don't know what to do next.

My dad called vet and told him that she need oxygen. My parents took her to emergency vet. We got antibiotic to take home after she had oxygen. Apparently she had bacteria or fungus infection to cause her breathing like that aside from that and not active she's eating too well and poop nicely. Right now she's almost back to her normal self thanks to antibiotic. That's the one greatest thing out of vet here. I bought varieties of medication but not antibiotic from Thailand.

From my mum experience at emergency animals hospital in Australia (I'll be a bit broad since not many in Australia), she was mad at them when she asked them to see her while she had oxygen. They put her in oxygen chamber box and left her unattended. She was in panic mode when she didn't know anyone at all. Once she saw my mum she tried to get out to see her. Before she went to get oxygen vet told my mum that she had a lot of gas in her crop (storage area on her chest) which technically not true because she just fed that's why it's big. Once I'm back home from work my mum told me that if we let her stay overnight she'll definitely be dead and we'll need to pay AU$1,000 for overnight stay plus bring dead body back. We still pay AU$280 for oxygen and antibiotic medication. We really do have extremely low expectations of vet in Australia. Especially our duck died because wrong diagnosis 20yrs ago.

Maybe you should place her back when she does that in the meantime. Protein? Scrambled eggs? Mealworms?

She passed away on 27th. She ate those protein and lots of scrambled eggs. I didn't gave her mealworms yet since she only want to eat scramble eggs. She was having difficulty in breathing and suddenly head dropped while my mum gave her antibiotics. We hurried take her to emergency vet but she didn't make it. I saw something about respiratory disease call Newcastle she show those sign except she still can eat very very well. She didn't have strength to stand but still thriving to eat and to survive. It's sad that she didn't make it. My parents and I cried really badly. We have small funeral for her and buried her. To be honest, I lost faith to trust vet in Australia. They're mostly have certain experience with dogs and cats but not that experience. Fees also expensive and useless. I don't mind paying expensive if they can diagnose properly.

Oh, I'm so sorry I feel the same way when I lose a chicken. Just remember it could have been a lot worse for her and you gave her an amazing home.💛
