Need advice about abandoned rooster (PIC)

He's a beauty but he looks pretty tough. i would agree, try to rehome him. you'd have to make sure that they would never hurt him or possibly keep him for a reason that he might have been kept for before.

If his former owner did what the OP suspects, his comb would have been removed for that purpose.

Honestly, the kindest thing to do for this roo might be to have him put down. It's unlikely that he'll be able to cohabitate with other chickens, and he's not protected from the elements or predators.

Not knowing his background for sure,,, I would look at several aspects of his being there. Has he flown at you through the fence? Has he threatened your other chickens through the fence? If he was used for the purpose not being discussed blatantly, he would be doing all of these things and making it known he wants to be top dog. If he is just hanging around hoping for handouts then do what the others have suggested and wait until he is roosting and has been for at least an hour, sneak up on him and GENTLY pick him up by holding his wings in to his sides and hold him away from your body without making any sudden, jerky, moves that might alarm or scare him and put him in a kennel. Then you have the option of having him picked up, trying to find him a home, or making him his own little pen in your yard where he can't get out but is safe from predators and he can live out his life in comfort and won't be a threat to your little ones.

I agree with above.
Do they still cut combs when showing?
You can remove those spurs with pliers if you catch him at night you should do the whole de worm de spur de mite while you got him.
Hope all works out.

they still remove combs when showing, most people who own games dub the combs/wattles/earlobes for it is a desired look, it doesn't have to be done for what people keep pushing just because hes a game. games will no fly/act agressively towards people if they were used for that purpose as they are not trained its natural.

I would suggest getting long gloves that maybe cover your arms.. or wear a long sleeve shirt. gloves. and boots... you never know if he is agressive or not since all breeds can be agressive. and if hes wild he could scratch you while holding him.. hence the long sleeve shirt and gloves. walk up to him, pick him up gently... don't hold him tightly or scare him. all should be fine
