Need coop for at least 25 chickens

Have you thought of building your own? If you have the materials it can become quite an easy project and then you could make it how you want to (size and looks)

10 by 10 would be just right for 25 chickens. I would go bigger if you can afford it because you will want more. Then you have to consider if your going to get more than one kind. Are they just a flock for laying? Or are you going to try and breed them? If they are just a laying flock then its an easy one big room. If you are going to have more than one breed then you will have to seperate them or at least build seperate breeding pens that the roosters will live in. My first coop was just a simple 8 by 8 with a 200 sq foot enclosed run for a laying flock of 9 birds.

we did it the redneck way - my dad had a disabled 24x8x9tall cotton trailer made of expanded metal, so we drug it home and the DH flipped it over with heavy equipment, cut off the axles, and cut/welded a door into it. All the accomodations such as roosts, nest boxes, are 'after-market' additions, mostly from scrounging. but it will hold somewhere upwards of 60 plus chickens and is easy to manage. Virtually no $$$, and the girls are happy.

i have a 10x12 gambrel shed for a coop. i had it built last year for my chickens it was only $ 1500. i can fit 30 standards in there if i wanted. i have 17 hens and a rooster right now.
