Need help figuring out roof pitch...

Here to revive an old thread.

I am in the process of building my coop and need some help with narrowing down ho tall to make my support beams for my roof. My coop will be 4x8 with the whole run being 12ft. The coop and run will be covered, the coop will have a plywood roof with ondura roofing across the coop/run.

I would like to make the low side 6ft so someone can walk in and stand up without hunching over. if I made the opposite side 6..5/7ft would that be enough of a pitch to keep snow off? I'm in Colorado so we do get snow but not tons of it. The whole rafter piece would be 8ft 2x4.

6.5 foot is not tall enough. 7 foot is a 3/12 pitch barely adequate slope to remove rain, not enough to shed snow. 8 foot would be a 6/12 pitch and should shed snow.
So roughly 2ft from front to back would yield enough pitch for snow. Might have to go 5ft back and 7ft front to keep profile down in the wind

Yes with onduline that should be adequate on a 4 foot span. My only caution would be to avoid 5 and 7 foot dimensions because they do not make efficient use of building materials like plywood and 2x4 studs. Unless you cannot fit a larger structure into your space go with 6 and 8 foot high.
Ya I was trying to use whole material and avoid having to make cuts. Guess i could get the same desired outcome if I was to bury some of the lower half of the wood, using pressure treated.

Thank you

I recommend AGAINST Ondura/onduline. It has a (well deserved) terrible reputation in the industry. Use sheet metal instead - which will also help shed snow/rain (less friction), and offers some heat mitigation by reflection - unlike the Ondura whose dark colors result in radiant heat emmisions.

This might be a super easy question but I'm lost. I was going to cut the top 2x4's for the roof at 5 degrees so they would sit more flush. My plan right now is have one side of the coop be 3/4ft tall and the other side be 5/6ft tall with the overall length of the run 8ft. I am following these plans but using my own dimensions and just dawned to me that the 5 degree cut might be off since my coop will be longer than the one they built.

----------------> 8Ft

I'm unsure where you got the 5 degree measurement from, but its certainly wrong. That's roughly a 1/12 pitch, which is too shallow for all roofing materials (according to the Mfgs) without use of special underlayments.

What, EXACTLY, are you trying to do? and yes, its math, and its simple.

Lots of websites with tools to help, if you don't feel like drafting it on a computer.
From the coop plans that I am using as a guide, the link i posted has all the measurements. I'm trying to determine if the pitch would be enough to shed snow. one wall is 3/4 ft and the other is 5/6ft. I'm hoping that the 8ft length doesn't make it too shallow. I could always make it a 7ft if that would make a difference. I'm trying to determine the angle that i have to cut the top lumber in order to sit flush with the ceiling.
