I have a five week old EE and lately she has been very quiet and not the same as before. She used to come up to your hand to be petted when you put your hand down in the brooder and tonight when I was talking to her she would open her mouth like she was chirping but no sound came out. Is this something I should be worried about.

Yes, first check to see if she has any food in her crop.

Then check the exit hole (vent) and make sure she's not blocked with dried poop.

Put her somewhere safe you can observe her- on paper towels, making sure you can keep her warm enough- to see what might come out. (and post a picture, we're used to lots of poop pics here)

The most likely scenario (barring injury) is coccidiosis which is easily solvable using Corid, which most feed and farm stores carry in liquid and powder forms. If you have some there with you, mix it up for her and give it to her. If she's not drinking, you might have to use a dropper to gently administer it. Everyone should get their water treated with Corid - if one has it, they've all been exposed. It can take them down quickly, so I recommend treating as soon as possible.

No food in the crop...checked her vent, which she was highly indignant about, lol, and no pasty butt. I have a picture of her poop, which she immediately stepped on when I went to take a picture....could she have a cold like we get sometimes, or
maybe she was having a down day...? Any suggestions is greatly appreciated...

And the water that they have been drinking has had this packet powder in it. I got it with the chicks from Meyer hatchery. Do I need to keep using it or stop.?

The chick crumble starter food has everything they need already in it. I would switch to regular water for now. I'm glad to see that she pooped and there doesn't seem to be anything alarming like blood in there - how is she acting today?

Okay....will just do regular water. She seems to be okay...I made sure to hold her and pet her and she seems to not be so reserved. She seems to be sitting with the others and not by herself all the time. Thank you for your help.
