Hi guys as you may know I’ve been trying to get our broody hen to become a strong broody but in doing so now she has a whole lot of infertile eggs under her and everytime I try take them from her she squeals and gets distressed at me, she is a bantam light Sussex cross and is only 8 months old. How do I get the eggs from under her without her losing her bloodiness?

She more than likely won’t “loose” her broodiness if you take the eggs.

You can do stealth or if your like me and dealt with mostly adult chickens (this is my first year raising day old chicks up for my own flock) just take the eggs and let them be upset. If you shy back at being pecked or her fussing than she is treating you as a lower hen. Reach grab continue or just pluck her off then again I have zero fear with all the things I've had to wrestle chickens are a lot easier to manage. It's great you have a broody hen. Come spring if she has that desire you could give her some hatching eggs and she can feel the maternal desire fulfilled. Broodiness comes back so you can grab or just let her sit and throw the eggs out possibly if they sit long enough to spoil.
