Still unsure. They are 6 weeks old now. One is definitely more chill than the others. Two of the wild ones have larger and pinker combs & waddles. I will try to get new pics.Any updates?
Right, I was gonna say the same, lolwell.... the ones wearing skirts...
Chick in pic 5 seems to have a darker comb than the rest, but I'm no expert I like to guess though to see if I'm getting better, lol.Week 5 pics
Chick #1 still has significantly more feather development than the others.
I see pullets. I have had 4 clutches of black australorps hatched out by a broody. I could usually tell my boys by 5 weeks b/c of their significantly more red and larger combs. Your chicks seem to have a much paler, even fleshy color to their combs. Feather development was never a sure bet on female/male.They are just over 5 weeks old I still think chick #1 is a female, she had longer wings from the start and sprouted tail feathers and her other feathers quicker than the others. She is calmer and more stand-offish too. Chicks #2-5 are all developing at identical rates, they started with short little wings and still barely have tail feathers. They are all four wild and like to stand up tall and challenge each other even bumping chests. They are more aggressive when it comes to getting snacks from our hands.
