Two week old chicks... is it normal for them to lay down and close their eyes during the day? Just wondering if that means they're too hot, too cold, etc? It's not in what I would think is a "normal" sleeping position. The head and neck are kinda extended out, laying on the bottom.

Welcome to BYC! It looks scary, but tiny chicks do that. In about another week they may sleep in a more normal position, but when they are so young they just fall asleep where they are. Good luck, and have fun with your babies. There is lots of good info on this site.

Sounds like normal sleeping babies to me. What you think is "normal" might not account for chicken normal. Sometimes they look dead...means they are sleeping comfortably.

There was a sign on the turkey poult bin at the feedstore: "Don't worry, they aren't dead. They are sleeping."

Too cold they would be huddled together under the heat source and probably cheeping loudly. Too hot, they'd be as far as they could get from the heat source and if hot enough, panting. Sounds like your chicks are comfortable and happy -- they are rapidly growing babies. They sleep a lot...even during the day time.

I have new babies that are doing this as well, not a first time chicken mom but I didn't remember them doing this last time. I also have new unfamiliar breeds this time

So when they are panting and laying down, that means they are perfectly fine? Or I should say like perfect temp? I get nervous that they are to hot

So does laying down panting means to hot? Or they are comfortable?
